Getting to know you

I haven’t altered the questions or the directions in the event that someone would like to use it as an email meme later. Try filling it out yourself. If you like, post it here as a comment to this post. Just remember to have fun with it.

Monday Mission 3.46 on Friday

So it isn't Monday, but I thought this was a interesting Meme from PromoGuy's Monday Mission 3.46

1. I read an article that said the reason many people like hot and spicy food is because that pain actually causes them pleasure. Do you personally find a connection between pleasure and pain?
Some times.

2. On the local NPR station there was a news item that about a recent study which said men who do housework get more sex. What do you think about that? Why would that be the case?
I'd suspect that it is true. A single man who does housework is more likely to have a clean bedroom, which could lead to more sex. A married man who does housework is more likely to have a relaxed wife, which would be more open to the idea of having sex.

3. A friend and I were talking about the stigma attached to divorce. He said that men can usually be divorced and not have much social backlash, but that women are often looked at as having failed in some way. The church especially, he said, tended to look down upon divorced women as if it were totally their fault and not the man's. Do you think there is a double-standard when it comes to men and women and the stigma of divorce?
I suspect that that there is a stigma attached to the women, as it is a general opinion that it is always the woman who wants to be married. So if it is the woman who wants to be married, it must be the woman who failed. Men cheat because they can't get what they need at home, which implies that the woman has failed. I will say that those opinions are a complete crock of bull and ridiculous.

4. On that same topic, I just read an article (look on Google News) that said parents with daughters are more likely to divorce than parents with sons. Do you think there is any validity to this?
Given that there are laws that allow a man in China to divorce his wife if she has a daughter, rather than a son and China is the most populous State on the planet, there may be some truth to this statement.

5. Do you think the way a Father raises his daughter has an impact on the type of men she will eventually have relationships with?
Yes, I think it has a large impact on her relationships with men in general and most definitely on the ones she will have romantic relationships with.

6. Have you ever found your body craving some sort of food? Meat, chocolate, fruit and even water, the body tends to know what it needs. Do you get food cravings? Which are the most powerful?
Yes, I've had food cravings for red meat, sweets, dark chocolate, milk and water. The most powerful for me are red meat and milk.

7. Do you have any type of skills you can "fall back on" if you needed to change careers suddenly?
Yes, I'm a trained bartender, lifeguard, swimming and lifeguard instructor. I could always go into teaching as a math teacher. I can do web design, free lance programming or tech support. I can touch type, fix office equipment and decipher legal research. I've taught aerobics, step aerobics and aqua aerobics. I've considered going into career coaching as a career change, but I don't know where to start to get on that career path. I'm not sure I'm willing to take the pay cut to use my other fall back skills, but I have them.

BONUS: Ain't that a shame? Nope.

Monday Mission 3.47

PromoGuy's Monday Mission 3.47

1. What do you do to get warm when you are very cold?
I like to light a fire in the fireplace, make hot chocolate, wrap up in blankets and read a book.

2. What is the first thing you do in the morning after you get up?
I scratch Brewster, Neko and Omega behind their ears, then go downstairs and feed them.

3. Do you remember the very first video game you ever played (arcade, handheld, console, etc.)? What do you remember about that experience?
The first video game I ever played was Pong. I remember intently watching the blip ricochet across the screen and the sound of the game.

4. Do you have a good memory or do you find that you need to write things down to remember them?
It depends on what it is. I have a very good memory for dates and will often remember birthdays after hearing them once. I?m good with remembering personal things about people I care about. At work I need to write things down more often as things become more hectic and I am likely to get information more quickly than I can absorb at a single time.

5. What are some of your all-time favorite television commercials?
Coca-Cola Polar Bears, Budweiser Frogs, M&M?s holiday

6. Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving food that is made by one person, and no one makes it better?
No one make noodles like my grandma?s noodles. She told me how to make them and it is deceptively simple. I may even try to make them during the holidays this year, so far no one has been able to duplicate grandma?s results, but we are hopeful that someone will be able to soon.

7. Are you planning to switch cell phone companies as a result of this new law, or possibly pit two companies against each other for a better deal?
I?m not planning to, but once my current contract runs out I will be doing some comparative shopping to make sure I am getting a good deal.

BONUS: Where? North Carolina

Today's Comment Question: What should be free, but isn't? Owning pets Can someone explain to me why I get taxed for having each cat?

Monday Mission 3.49

PromoGuy's Monday Mission 3.49
1. Do you have any vacation time from work saved up for the Holidays? Or are you taking any time off or traveling this month? What are your plans?
I have a little bit of time left, but I?ll only be making a short trip to Ohio to be a part of my nephew?s Baptism.

2. When do you do most of your blogging? During the day, at work, at home, at night?
I tend to do most of my journaling in the evening. I?ll think of something during the day and jot it down to expand on later. Sometimes I?ll write through lunch if I get involved in something.

3. What tends to keep you from blogging more? Or could it be that you blog too much and should do less?
Given the frequency that I?ve been blogging, I am rarely without a topic to play with. If anything keeps me from writing it is primarily inspiration.

4. Do you like dressing up and/or "role playing?"
Such a loaded question? I do enjoy dressing up.

5. When choosing a mate, there are some things you can overlook (boob size, hairy backs, beer belly, bad teeth, hair lip, etc.) and some things you just can't (see previous list). What are some of thing things you can live with when picking your partner, and what are the things that are a "must have?"
Must Haves: strong character, strong personality, able to hold a stable job, illegal drug-free....

6. Have you ever had a professional massage or ever been to a Chiropractor?
Both

7. Does size really matter? Yeah you know exactly what I mean too. Men, what have you been told and what do you know to be true? Girls, what is the real story and is that what you tell the guys? Have you ever been scared of one that was too big? For both: why do you think this debate is still going on?
The actual talk that goes on without men says that size does matter, but you can make up for quite a bit of shortcoming by being versatile. The debate goes on because men?s egos are so tied into their sexual identity and men always want to ?win.? Well, in most cases, you can?t win if you aren?t competing.

BONUS: Do they know it's Christmas time at all? My cats do, they like the tree that sprouts up in the living room.

Today's Comment Question: You still gonna come by and comment once the Monday Mission goes away? I?ll keep my eye on the site, but since I haven?t actually commented so far, using the word ?still? is kind of a misnomer.

Monday Mission 3.50

This meme came to an end while I was dealing with stuff. I didn't complete the last four weeks when they were originally published. I really liked this meme, so here I go getting caught back up, although once I'm caught up, there isn't anywhere to go with this one...

PromoGuy's Monday Mission 3.50 from 12/15/2003
1. What in your life used to be fun, but eventually just became a chore that you didn't enjoy?
I had a roommate in college that was a complete blast to hang out with. She was pretty, knew a lot of people and nothing around her was ever boring. She lived in a constant state of drama. She was a true drama queen. Going out with her was fun at first, but the more we went out together, the more I got tired of taking care of her later when she was too drunk or hung over the next day. It got to the point that I loathed going out with her. This was a serious case of when is it my turn to have someone watch my back that never happened.

Justice (via ShaeSin's link)

The Justice Card

You are the Justice card. Justice preserves the harmony of the world. Working with opposite forces, Justice does not seek to criticize or condemn but rather to accept. The idea behind the card justice is that opposite forces are complementary; you could not have good without evil or light without darkness. Justice's position is to make sure that if a thing is out of balance, the weight of its energy is realigned with its opposite force. This card is also a card of humour, for it is in pointing out contrary positions that humour is often found. The attitude that is found in the humourous person, being able to shift perspective and flow with an instinct, is important in the maintenance of good balance. Image from The Blue Moon Tarot Deck

My Bloginality is INTJ

INTJs behave in a very self-restrained manner with strangers, never showing initiative first and always maintaining a long psychological distance. Their speech is very clear and logical and they always follow a logical progression. They also have a tendency to emphasise key words. When defending their concepts and ideas during a confrontation their logic can become solid and absolute. They cut out all irrelevant details that may cloud the argument.

Although the first impression of INTJs is that they are emotionless, when they become inspired during conversation an emotionality previously unseen begins to emerge. Their eyes start flashing with a fanatic light and their passion increases as the conversation progresses. However, they still try to maintain their self-control. INTJs sustain conversations only if they find them interesting. They prefer to keep silent rather than give an opinion on a subject to which they are indifferent.

INTJs always give others a chance to say what they need to say. They consider that everyone has got talents and they try at least not to interfere. They do not refuse any proposals immediately, preferring to examine them first. INTJs are very reserved and usually do not take the initiative in talking about their interests and private life. This can lead others to think that they have no private life at all.

INTJs have a very characteristic tendency to independence and can only accept a whole freedom. In work matters they combine their need for freedom with a feeling of responsibility. INTJs are not very demanding. They are often indifferent to food and its presentation. It can be simple but must be fresh. When involved in something interesting they can completely forget that they need to eat. In everyday matters INTJs are modest and are happy to have a minimum degree of comfort.

INTJs usually have an interest that stays with them for a long time and are absolutely indifferent to what others say about it. They never endorse their position in life. INTJs live in a world of their own conception. They simply ignore rules, concepts and directives that do not suit them. Most people do not understand INTJs and try to keep away from them.

My Bloginality is INTJ!

And imagine that, there's more...

Progressive Girl

Moderation in all things, excess in nothing. -- Epicurus

Imagine that the Girl Next Door moved to the big city. Think of Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally. She's America's sweetheart with an urban sensibility. She's a post-Christian spiritualist, a pre-Monica Clintonite, and a dues-paying member of at least one social-change organization like NOW, Planned Parenthood, or the Sierra Club. You won't find her at an Earth First or PETA meeting, though. Those are the Granola Girl's stomping grounds. Progressive Girls want the world to be a better place, but they live out their politics in a moderate, left-of-center way.

If you are going to date a Progressive Girl, the one sin you can commit is to be a chameleon. Molding your opinions to fit hers will lose her respect. One very positive thing you can do is offer her new experiences -- the Progressive Girl is fearless about trying new things. Whether it's pluralism, skydiving, Asian peanut sauce, or this book, the Progressive Girl is always looking for new ideas.

She Might Be a Progressive Girl if:

  1. She drives: a small SUV but really wishes it got better mileage; once she can get a good hybrid, she will. (I really looked at the hybrids before buying my car, but they aren't ready for me yet...)
  2. She can talk for more than ten minutes about: just about anything. (Guilty)
  3. She begins her sentences with: "Susan Sarandon says..." (Not usually)
  4. She'd never: pass up the chance for a new experience. (Guilty)
  5. She owns any of the following: a water filter, a tabletop fountain, an acre of rain forest, a mutt from the pound. (Yes, yes, no, yes - but she's a cat)

Your Existing Situation
Acts in an orderly, methodical, and self-contained manner. Needs the sympathetic understanding of someone who will give her recognition and approval.

Your Stress Sources
Resists any form of pressure from others and insists on her independence as an individual. Wants to make up her own mind without interference, to draw her own conclusions and arrive at her own decisions. Detests uniformity and mediocrity. As she wants to be regarded as one who gives authoritative opinions, she find it difficult to admit to being wrong, while at times she is reluctant to accept or understand another's point of view.

Your Restrained Characteristics
Trying to calm down and unwind after a period of over-agitation which has left her listless and devoid of energy. In need of peace and quiet; becomes irritable if this is denied her.

Willing to become emotionally involved, but demanding and particular in her choice of a partner and in her relations with those close to her. Needs reassurance and is careful to avoid open conflict since this might reduce her prospects of realizing her hopes.

Your Desired Objective
Needs to feel identified with someone or something and wishes to win support by her charm and amiability. Sentimental and yearns for a romantic tenderness.

Your Actual Problem

Morning Quiz

ShaeSin found another quiz

(Only I would score so close to so many other types...)

eXpressive: 1/10
Practical: 5/10
Physical: 5/10
Giver: 5/10

You are a RSIT--Reserved Sentimental Intellectual Taker. This makes you a Archetypal Older Child.

You are a hard nut to crack. You have a wicked sense of humor. Despite your reserved nature, you are more comfortable (and successful) in the meeting and courting mode than you are in a long term relationship. You feel misunderstood, and usually you are.

When you're in a good mood, you're funny, fascinating and a sexy firecracker, but when you're in a bad mood you are moody, broody and impatient. In courtship mode, you don't have to let anyone see your moody side. If you had your way, even in a long term relationship you would have enough time apart to deal with your bad moods yourself; unfortunately, it rarely works that way.

You stifle *a lot* of anger and frustration -- from all areas of your life -- so when it comes out it comes out nasty. More than any other type, your conflicts tend to turn on one tiny thing -- the dishes, the laundry -- that's really a scapegoat for your larger dissatisfactions with your relationship. You're baffled that your partner just can't do the dishes -- your partner is baffled that it's such a big deal. The only way around it is to let the dishes go entirely and try to get at the real root of what's bothering you.

I'm making you sound like a bear, but the fact is that you're so warm and charming most of the time that it effectively offsets the times you're unhappy.

You will make a weirdly good parent.

Don't pair up with someone who'll make sexual demands of you. That's just not going to fly at all.

ShaeSin's Meme

  1. Do you believe that Democrats can get away with more questionable activities than Republican? If not, why?
I believe that upon being caught in questionable activities Democrats have fewer consequences and are less likely to be crucified by the media. If there is one thing the media loves, it is being able to run a conservative through the mud. Many Republicans run on platforms of morality and values, so this makes them hunted media targets.
  2. Is it okay under any circumstances to bring up a candidate’s family? (ie - Cheney’s *Lesbian* Daughter)
If I could figure out how Mary Cheney is relevant to the election, I’d be more inclined to support bringing the candidate’s family into the election circus. Mary Cheney is an adult, who has been living her own life for several years. Both of her parents have expressed public and private support for her, I fail to see how this has any bearing on the election at hand. If someone could find a non-Jerry Springer correlation to the type of Vice President Cheney is and the sexual preference of his daughter, maybe it would be a valid discussion point. As it stands, there’s no reason to highlight the fact that Dick Cheney’s independent, adult, contributing to society daughter happens to be a lesbian.
  3. Which party do you agree with most? Democrat, Republican or Other? And why?
I tend to agree with the ideals of the Democrats, but the policies of the Republicans. I agree that things need to happen for the good of society as a whole (help the needy, support the arts), but I also believe that things should be done in moderation. To me the Democrats get too caught up in issues of passion and tend to jump into things without thinking through the ramifications of their proposed actions. The Republicans are weights holding the Democrats back from throwing the baby out with the bath water.
  4. If you had to name one politician that you admire or even think they are one-of-a-kinda. Who would you pick and why?
Benjamin Franklin – he was involved in so much that formed this country, but was never really thought of as a politician.
  5. When was the first election you were able to vote in? Was it presidential or not? And did those people you vote for, get in?
    1992 - the Presidential race was Clinton/Bush #1 and I didn’t vote for Bill.
  6. Do you have a strict view of the constitution or are you willing to be more liberal with our national’s more honored document?
I am more strict than liberal, I wish to have change take place slow rather than quickly. To change to quickly risks loosing the ideals the country was founded upon.
  7. Will there be a draft and if so – would you go if you’re number is called?
There isn’t going to be a draft. If there were I’d go. I don’t believe in asking someone else to do something I’m not willing to do myself.
  8. Should Same-Sex Marriage be legal in ALL 50 states?
I believe that Same-Sex Unions should be legal in all 50 states. I do not believe that it is necessary to call these partnerships marriage.
  9. What about our economy? Is it up or is it down?
I believe it is slowly crawling up and that the markets are readjusting to the changes in the global economy. Until those adjustments are made, the economy will be unsettled.
  10. Why do you think people dislike President Bush so much?
He relies heavily and publicly on his faith and this makes people uncomfortable. For the Democratic Party, he’s a nightmare; he’s already had a very public fall from grace being a recovering alcoholic, so he’s proven himself to be human, which is usually their forte when dealing with the public masses. He’s also not the polished president that makes everyone happy.
  11. Best President the United States has ever had?
George Washington, because he didn’t ask for the job.
  12. Is there a politician from your state – that you wish would crawl back into whatever hole they came out of and if so - why?
Paul Pfieifer, Ohio Supreme Court Justice – he represented a woman in a wrongful death suite against the Wynford School District. The woman’s husband was killed in a truck meets school bus accident on a rural road, when the husband ran a stop sign and pulled into the path of the bus. What’s the problem? Well, the school bus was on its normal route, but he argued that the school bus shouldn’t have been there, because if was foggy. The punitive award given to the woman has had the school district on the brink of bankruptcy for the last 15+ years. The man ran the stop sign and crashed into the bus, but it is the school district that was ordered to pay millions of dollars. In what crazy world does that make any sense?
  13. Do you think military should be our number one concern and if you don’t think so, why not?
I think our people should be our number one concern. This means having a strong military to stand between the people and those who would cause harm. Priority 1: establish a safe environment in which to build. Priority 2: make sure the minimal needs of people can be met. That does not mean that all the needs must be met, but just that they can be met. If someone refuses to have a need met, that’s their choice.
  14. The Patriot Act – do you have something to hide, that you don’t want Uncle Sam finding out about you?
Nope, all my skeletons are on file somewhere, so if Uncle Sam is interested, the information is there. Do I think the Patriot Act is too gung-ho? Yes, but that doesn’t mean that it affects me.
  15. Are you going to vote on November 2nd, 2004 … human?
    Yes

In a name

Found by ShaeSin: Your name

Jennifer
The name Jennifer creates a dual nature in that you can be very generous and understanding, but you can also be so candid in your expression that you create misunderstanding. You struggle with the requirement to soften your expression with tact and diplomacy and to consider the feelings of others. Difficulty in accepting advice or admitting that you may have made a mistake causes you to appear to be stubborn and set in your ways. Thus, you have too often created the wrong impression, and friendships have suffered. This name does offer creative talent where there is the opportunity for ingenuity and originality. You have a tendency, at times, to have too many ideas on the go, and thus your efforts are scattered and many things do not reach completion. You are inclined to do to excess the things you like to do. You have very intense feelings and find it difficult to maintain stability and happiness. If you allowed it, temper and self-pity could be problems. Tension could cause nervous disorders, or centre in the head bringing weaknesses in the eyes, ears, sinuses, or teeth.

I guess Jolene was me...

I Am A: Neutral Good Elf Bard Thief
Alignment:
Neutral Good characters believe in the power of good above all else. They will work to make the world a better place, and will do whatever is necessary to bring that about, whether it goes for or against whatever is considered 'normal'.

Race:
Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:
Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.

Secondary Class:
Thieves are the most roguish of the classes. They are sneaky and nimble-fingered, and have skills with traps and locks. While not all use these skills for burglary, that is a common occupation of this class.

Deity:
Oghma is the Neutral Good god of knowledge and invention. He is also known as the Binder of What is Known, and is the Patron of Bards. His followers believe that knowledge reigns supreme, and is the basis for everything else that is done. They wear white shirts and pants, with a black and gold braided vest, and a small, box-like hat. All priests of Oghma are known as Loremasters. Oghma's symbol is a scroll.

A single rose

solitary
Your soul is bound to the Solitary Rose: The Alone.

"When I wake up alone, the shades are still drawn on the cold window pane so they cast their lines on my bed and lines on my face."

The Solitary Rose is associated with loneliness, melancholy, and patience. It is governed by the goddess Merope and its sign is The Sword, or Unrequited Love.

As a Solitary Rose, you may be summed up as a hopeless romantic. You desire love and have so much love to give, but thing just never seem to work out the way you want them to. In life, you can be very optomistic, even when things are gray and nothing works out to your expectations.

Here lies

Along the lines of writing your own obituary to discover what you really want out of life, ShaeSin discovered this Meme at The Chas Chronicles.

So you find yourself dead. Can't control what happens next, or can you?

  1. The split second before you're about to die, time stops and you can accomplish one last task before the end. What is it?
Gather the people I love together, hug them and tell them that I love them.
  2. The Nacissistic Death is all about you - in what manner did you die?
Death is caused by an instant brain aneurism occurring 2 seconds before hitting the ground after jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.
  3. What music/song would you like played at your funeral?
    Sarah Mclachlan – Angel
    Michael W. Smith – Friends
Andrew Lloyd Webber - Think of Me
  4. RIP? You can do better than that - what finals words to the world are etched on your tombstone/urn?
Forget my name, just remember what I taught you and teach it to someone else.
  5. Apparently, there's supposed to be happiness in the afterlife. What age are you and what's different about you that makes you oh so happy to be here?
Age doesn’t really matter, because in the afterlife I am dead. My job is done, I’ve done my best and I do not regret trying to do anything with too much enthusiasm or conviction. I’ve lived my life and now from a comfortable chair on a beach with a warm sun, a cool breeze and drifting clouds, I’ll people watch for as long as eternity lasts.

Classic Story Role:

You Are The Outlaw
"Sure, I'll do it. My way."

Just because you do not conform to the same laws and rules as everyone else does not mean that you are a bad guy. You travel your own path, separate from those around you, with your own reasons for doing what you do. Because of this and your own nature, it goes without saying that you are generally misunderstood. That does not matter much, though, as people love you for being who you are. You are pretty well set in your ways and have no real intention of changing. This can come across as a flicker of arrogance if your not careful. You do what is right for you, and God help anyone who stands in your way.

Rise
Your wise quote is: "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall" by Confucius.
Yes indeed, you see true strength can only be seen when a person has "fallen". Only then one can tell how they will handle it. Just don't make others fall so you can know who they really are. You on the other hand may be a very quick recoverer and don't let people bring you down. You are your own, and you're fine with that. Emotional issues is something you handle rather nicely.

From the Rate My Life Quiz

Graphically:

lifequiz.JPG

My Life Analysis:

Life: Your life rating is a score of the sum total of your life, and accounts for how satisfied, successful, balanced, capable, valuable, and happy you are. The quiz attempts to put a number on the summation of all of these things, based on your answers. Your life score is reasonably high. This means that you are on a good path. Continue doing what is working and set about to improve in areas which continue to lag. Do this starting today and you will begin to reap the benefits immediately.

Mind: Your mind rating is a score of your mind's clarity, ability, and health. Higher scores indicate an advancement in knowledge, clear and capable thinking, high mental health, and pure thought free of interference. Your mind score is within a healthy zone. This means you have achieved a level of mental balance and harmony consistent with living a healthy, happy life. Continue doing what works, and keep your focus. In our fast-paced world, mental clutter is all too common. Be vigilant in maintaining healthy mental function.

Body: Your body rating measures your body's health, fitness, and general wellness. A healthy body contributes to a happy life, however many of us are lacking in this area. You have a rather good body score, which is an indication that you take care of yourself. There is room for improvement, however. Please keep doing what works. Eat right, exercise, reduce your stress, treat any illness. Doing these things will help ensure your body will be in good working order for a long time to come.

Spirit: Your spirit rating seeks to capture in a number that elusive quality which is found in your faith, your attitude, and your philosophy on life. A higher score indicates a greater sense of inner peace and balance. Your spirit score is dramatic. Continue on your path, do not stray. Continue to reap the rewards which your spirituality brings forth.

Friends/Family: Your friends and family rating measures your relationships with those around you, and is based on how large, healthy, and dependable your social network is. Your friends and family score suffers, yet it does not need to be this way. Strengthen your social network by reaffirming old bonds. Seek out new friendships, and they will provide you the reward you need.

Love: Your love rating is a measure of your current romantic situation. Sharing your heart with another person is one of life's most glorious, terrifying, rewarding experiences. Your love score is very low, indicating trouble. There is love out there for you. Seek the advice of wise people on how to go about finding it. Do not lose hope.

Finance: Your finance rating is a score that rates your current financial health and stability. You have a rather good financial score, which is not all that common these days. Keep doing what works. Avoid common pitfalls and save for the future. You will be glad you did.

Modern, Cool Nerd
65 % Nerd, 86% Geek, 30% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd.

Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)!

Congratulations & Thanks Again!

Accent

It would appear that the author did his homework before putting this quiz together. I grew up firmly in the "yellow" of the Midland belt.

What American accent do you have?
Created by Xavier on Memegen.net

Midland. The Midland (please don't confuse with "Midwest") itself is the neutral zone between the North and South. But just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from there. Since it is considered a neutral, default, "non-regional" accent you could easily be from someplace without its own accent, like Florida, or a big city in the South like Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?
